A Dinner Party of the Officers

This was the final assignment in a figure drawing class taken at Hamilton College.  Each student was randomly assigned a classical painting and a female artist, and from those two things had to create a meaningful composition.  I drew the Banquet of the Officers by Frans Hals, and Judy Chicago.  I decided to recreate the composition of Banquet of the Officers with Judy Chicago and the powerful women she paid homage to in her piece The Dinner Party in the place of the men.  From left to right: Virginia Woolf, Judy Chicago, Susan B. Anthony, Sojourner Truth, Georgia O'Keefe, and Emily Dickinson.  On the table is a place setting from Chicago's The Dinner Party.
